Hard to believe that this great live acoustic version has no comments in 15 years of being posted.So let me just say that Big Country were truly a brilliant yet totally underrated band in relation to other bands of any era.And the late great Stuart Adamson was truly one of the best singer/songwriter/musicians of all time.

You'd barely know Kate Bush was in this song, not Big Country's fault. Just watched an interview with Bruce Watson saying the producer turned her vocals way down for whatever reason. Such a shame, I'd love to get hold of the tapes and remix it myself. Big Country's epic rock and Kate's drama and voice are surely made for each other!

Stuart was one of the reasons a started playing guitar a know he was in the rolling stone top 100 guitarists of all time at one point and the fact he isn't is a travesty some of his work on The Seer album & the restless natives soundtrack is straight out magical

It will never cease to piss me off to see how underrated Big Country are as a band and Stuarty Adamson was as a writer. To me, probably the best band to come out of the UK in the 80s. Thanks to my Dad for raising me on their music 👌💙

I think this was a Stevie Nicks song that was covered by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. It must date from Adamson's time in the USA. It's not a Big Country style number.

This sounds awful. Maybe it was the first time they came up with a funk rhythmic guitar part and then improvised some crap on the spot. Using that kind of rhythm guitar part, Wonderland & Promised Land were still good a bit in the future from here...in terms of songwriting. Ha, ha, juh, juh, is there still a need for sorrow

Vocally, and melodically, this is a bit like the style of the Skids album "Joy" that was done after Stuart Adamson abandoned that band. Though the band sound is still that of Big Country.

This song sounds like it was written by the same person who wrote Brave Man, which I think was the last song Stuart Adamson recorded in the studio with the Skids. And the guitar tone on "Echoes" is the same as Stuart Adamson used on "Blood & Soil" in the last live show I've heard that he did with the Skids. So, yes, this sounds like The Skids. Then you'd wonder where did the 1000 Stars/Inwards style songs come from that made "The Crossing". I guess a new bassist & drummer and a new producer helps to bring new ideas.
